Eric Bana began his film career in The Castle (1997) before earning critical acclaim for his breakout role as Mark “Chopper” Read in Chopper, which screened at Sundance and won him the AFI Best Actor award.

He transitioned to international stardom with Black Hawk Down, followed by standout performances in Troy (as Hector) and Steven Spielberg’s Munich. Back home, he starred in Romulus, My Father, winning his second Best Actor award and helping the film earn the 2007 AFI Best Film.

In 2009, Bana made his directorial debut with Love The Beast, a personal documentary that premiered at Tribeca. That same year, he appeared in Star Trek (as Nero), Funny People, and The Time Traveler’s Wife. He later took on roles in Hanna, Lone Survivor, and the Netflix satire Special Correspondents.

Bana earned praise for his chilling lead performance in the true-crime series Dirty John (2018), and returned to Australian cinema with The Dry (2020), one of the country’s highest-grossing films. He reprised his role in Force of Nature: The Dry 2 (2024) and appeared in Blueback (2023).

In July 2025, he stars in the Netflix thriller Untamed, set in Yosemite National Park, alongside Sam Neill and Rosemarie DeWitt.
